Shopping

// January 29th, 2005 // No Comments » // General

Today I bought myself a pair of Converse shoes and a pair of gap jeans, the jeans were reduced by 66% (y) Bargain.

Got them from Birmingham. Birmingham has got to be the best place to shop, I’ve ever been. I enjoy going to Nottingham, but Birminghams shopping area is probably twice the size at least. Let’s face it, anywhere with multiple HMVs including one that’s spread over four floors is going to impress me.

Hit and Miss

My auction for Sage Francis – Sea Lion ended on eBay. I didn’t make as much as I hoped, but still cleared a small profit, so I’m happy. Got to start selling the other stuff off now.

Had my driving test today \o/ and I passed! Time to investigate the probability of me affording to be able to drive my own car now.

Young Love

Just got off the phone to Sara. She’d received the flowers and chocolates for our 6th month anniversary. She sounded so excited and happy. Her mum said that she thought that she was going to bounce a hole in the carpet she was that happy. It made me feel all kind of warm and happy to hear her and how excited she was. Happy in a way I don’t feel often. The happiness of knowing that you’ve made the day of someone you care deeply about. Wish I was with her now but oh well I’ll be back in just over a week.

Google Video

Google have just added video search to their lineup. It’s currently only a beta version and only indexes content from a handful of tv stations (including fox news :/). It works by searching the subtitles for your search term. Once you click on a result you can see screenshots of that program, and the subtitling from that moment in screenshot as well as times and dates the program is next on. There’s no video yet, although it looks like that will be supported in future.

Hard to see a real use for this, except for maybe trying to find out what a particular characters catchphrase is in the midst of a pub argument, or to find out what that program was that you just caught the end of. TV scheduling already covers that though, and in a better way in my opinion. No doubt google have something up their sleeves, hopefully something more exciting than text ads. The only thing I can think of is some kind of ‘google tv store’ but that seems unlikely and pretty much goes against googles other services, which are typically free to the user.

Once more we are setting out to earn a ‘fortune’ (a handful of magic beans) on eBay (y). Nick and I have bought a pallet of household goods, that we’re selling off at rock bottom prices (but not too rock bottom) I’ll say some more when we’ve decided what’s what. For now, I’m selling off one of my records, feast your eyes upon Sage Francis – Sea Lion.

Saw

I saw saw at the cinemas. When I went in I went to the counter and said “can i see saw” (y). (geddit geddit???!?)

Anyway Saw is a dark film that relies on plot twists and dark humour to keep the audiences attention. Instead of the usual build up, then the story then an ending, this film basically just has a story, so you know pretty much nothing about the characters, this information is then unveiled as the story goes on, basically driving the plot twists. It’s sure to have you thinking ‘whodunnit’ all the way through. This makes the film good to watch once, but I suspect repeat viewing quickly becomes a chore.

Featuring a cast lineup of Danny Glover (Lethal Weapon), Dina Meyer (Starship Troopers), Cary Elwes (Robin Hood) and some random people (y)
